TIPS Annual Spring Picnic

TIPS invites the Truro Family to be part of our Spring celebration.  Bring your family and friends to enjoy a time of fellowship in the outdoors.  There will be walking and jogging around the lake, games and food.  Come as long as you want.  Meet some of our TIPS students and volunteers!

When:  April 14 2018 from 10 AM to 5 PM

Where: Burke Lake State Park (Fairfax).  7315 Ox Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039.

Look for Shelter C.  This is a covered area with 22 long tables. 


  • Donations requested: $2 per person.
  • Families with more than 5 members, donation requested $10. 

Donations are requested to help pay for the rental of the shelter.   Payments will be collected at the picnic. 

Attention:  Cars with plates from outside Fairfax County must pay $10 at the park’s entrance; cars from Fairfax are free. 

What to do:  Walking, jogging, boats for rent; train rides; carousel for children, games, beach volleyball, Frisbee park, ice-cream parlor and more (rentals and rides have a small cost; see website). 

What to eat:  TIPS will provide hamburgers and beef hotdogs, coals on grills for people wanting to barbecue their own food.  There will be ice, water and sodas.  Each family is encouraged to bring their own food as well and something to share. 

What to bring: 

  • Food to share
  • Folding chairs if you want
  • Balls, Frisbees, other games.
  • Comfortable shoes.

Thank you,Jose. As I e-mailed Nan earlier, I had planned to be there.
However, late yesterday I learned that a dear friend had a bad riding
accident. She has been in the hospital and will be recovering at home in
Charlottesville. At this point, it appears that I will be going down for
the weekend to help out. She is the person who dropped everything and came
to my side after John died, so I am blessed to reciprocate.

Have a wonderful event!
