The Gift of Singleness

In the Church, we often refer to the “gift” of singleness, but what exactly does that mean? How can people living without spouses—whether permanently or temporarily—discover and live out of this gift, and how can all Christians embrace singleness as a gift for the whole Church? We will explore this through stories, teaching and discussion.

I am saying yes as much out of curiosity as anything. I have been “single” for most of the last 12 years and have yet to experience the gift of singleness in the church. I am looking forward to hearing about the gift of singleness and how I can discover and live out this gift. And furthermore how can all Christians embrace singleness as a gift for the whole church. I surely have not felt this at Truro and am not even sure I would recognize this gift for the whole church if I tripped over it. I also don’t know the opposite of this gift but maybe it’s what I have felt most of the time at Truro but not known what to call it. I am also surprised at the range of emotions that this subject brings up in me.
